Al Khafji Border Crossing
Located at the border between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, Al Khafji Border Crossing serves as a key gateway between the two countries. The lighting design was developed to transform this essential infrastructure into a memorable arrival and departure experience while reinforcing the site’s identity after dark.
The concept integrates architectural lighting with digital media elements to create a dynamic and engaging visual environment. LED mesh systems, circular display screens, and RGBW lighting were incorporated into the canopy structure, allowing the installation to display evolving content, announcements, and visual sequences.
Beyond its visual impact, the lighting scheme was designed to adapt to different operational conditions throughout the day while maintaining energy efficiency through LED technology. By combining lighting, media, and architecture, the project creates a distinctive gateway experience that enhances both the functionality and character of the border crossing.
